Policy on Transfer of Credits

Aligned with National Credit Framework – NCrF 2023

Objective

To establish a transparent, flexible, and learner-centric mechanism for the recognition, accumulation, and seamless transfer of academic and skill credits across education and skilling pathways, in line with NCrF 2023 guidelines.


Regulatory Basis

This policy aligns with:

  • National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
  • NCrF Notification by MoE, UGC, NCVET (2023)
  • Guidelines from CBSE, NIOS, AIU, NSDC, and Sector Skill Councils

Credit Bank & Records System

VSOS Credit Ledger maintained on a central Digital Credit Bank integrated with:

  • Academic Bank of Credits (ABC)
  • DigiLocker and NAD (National Academic Depository)
  • Learners receive Credit Scorecards semester-wise

Policy Guidelines

  • Minimum Transferable Credits: 40% of total program credits may be transferred.
  • Maximum External Credit Acceptance: Up to 60% from recognized boards, online platforms, and skill agencies.
  • Validation Authority: Transfer requests reviewed by the VSOS Credit Transfer Committee.
  • RPL Recognition: Based on performance, documents, work samples, and interviews.
  • No Age/Time Limit: Learners can resume anytime with valid prior credits.
